Finally earned my keep

Yesterday was a fantastic day. I actually feel as though I did something to earn my keep at my new client’s home. I was able to clean (if just a little), cook, bake and just feel useful! Simple gratitude is worth its weight in gold, let me tell you! I am just so happy to feel useful!

I realize that the family feels safe with Jackie and I present (and I do have to say that we make a great team!), but I am a caregiver and I really like to give ‘care’ to those in which I am employed.

Have I said it lately that I just absolutely love what I do? Well, if I have not said it before, I want to say it now, I love what I do! Elders certainly deserve my respect and as far as I concerned, they deserve the respect from everyone else, too!

Although it is only two days that we will be apart, it still seems like a lot of time. It is so hard on the ladies (and sometimes their families) to have us away. What they do not realize is that it is hard on us, too. We love these people as though they were our very own flesh and blood!Image
