Thankful for the small things

DSC_0632

When most people in our society are sitting in their homes wishing they had more, even though they have two storage units of stuff that they value but never, ever look at much less use, it is refreshing to come across someone that is practical and thrifty and is simply thankful for the small things.

Audrey is just that type of individual. She does not expect much out of life and flows with the ebbs and tides. She has stated simply to me from time to time that life is not easy, it is all in the way that you look at it and deal with it. If you are grateful to God for the blessings that you receive, He will be able to get you through the more trying times.

If only everyone could have this simple respect for life, I truly believe that the world would be a much better place to be! I have realized that With Age Comes Respect and it is because of the innocence of angels like Audrey that I was able to do so.

Gee I wish everyone had the ability to learn and grow like I am doing with my elderly friends. It is just that most won’t open either their hearts or their minds or have the desire to want to do so. Now I, too, am grateful for the small things and will do whatever it takes to keep learning and improving so that I never do forget!
