Rising prices don’t help the elderly

Social security was invented in 1935 during President Franklin D. Roosevelt’s

first term. The reason that it was invented was as a means to implement a ‘social insurance’ during the Great Depression of the 1930’s. It was developed as a supplement, not as a means of support.

Because of the continual stock market crashes, the fact that there is no longer interest paid to savings accounts, very few people having retirement accounts or 401Ks and because prices on everything from gas to food are continually rising, since SS is just supplemental, seniors are having a heck of a time making it.

AARP did a quick check on prices over the past 50 years and the results were scary; meaning everything but a half gallon of milk is more expensive to buy or to earn than it was 50 years ago. The question is, how are senior citizens supposed to make it in this economy – especially considering that there is limited space in nursing homes and senior centers and assisted living facilities are too expensive for most people to afford.

How are seniors supposed to cope? That is where my service comes in. I make certain that cleaning is done, that well-balanced meals are prepared, laundry and bedding are clean and the individuals that I serve are secure within their environment. If they want a day out, the only extra cost is mileage.

It is my goal to make certain that each and every senior is provided for. I am working on it by knowing that With Age Comes Respect and I plan on providing just that!
