Sharing in a big day

When people ask me why I do what I do when I could ‘have any corporate job out there’ due to my education level, they still never seem to comprehend just how much satisfaction that a caretaking position brings. I hear comments like, “Well, I am glad it is you and not me,” kind of thing. I keep thinking that I, too, wish it was them – in conjunction with me – being there for someone that was potentially there for them all of these years.

This past week has been such a joy for me. I got to go to a Christmas party at a Catholic church, have days that I administered extra special spa-like treatments to my seniors and got to play dress up in anticipation for the ‘big day.’ It was like a dream come true for me and I simply loved being a part of every minute of it! All I keep thinking is ‘what would I do without my seniors?’

I don’t think they realize just how much influence they have over my life. I have always enjoyed ‘doing’ for others. I enjoy being a servant of God; giving to others straight from my own heart. Perhaps that is why I can embrace the concept of With Age Come Respect!
