Reasons behind the neglect

There are very few people in this world that wake up one day and decide that it is a good idea to neglect, mistreat or even abuse an older person in a nursing home. Those that do think about these particular things are for sure really messed up in the head!

There is such a thing as too much stress in a job that causes some people to do horrible things; things beyond their reckoning. When they discover the error of their ways, however, it is usually too late.

Elderly caregivers can go through an enormous amount of stress and strain – especially if their ward has Alzheimer’s disease or Dementia. At the very least, they may ignore these folks. At the far extreme, they may abuse them. Sometimes these various acts take place in the nursing home setting. He people hired to care forget to show the residents that With Age Comes Respect.

Perhaps this is due to the long hours, the lack of training or the fact that many of these people get paid close to minimum wage. No matter the reasoning, it is not right, but if thought about, can be quite understandable!

This is a huge reason why I detest these public establishments and am so glad that my private business, Time To Care, is going as well as it is. I only wish I could help more of the elders that truly need my help!
